Other automatic functions in CZM often fail to align collections of small dots e.g. starts in addition this function can compensate for angfular differences between frames, i.e. as starts describe an arc across the sky, or the camera/telescope wobbles. This function is not guaranteed to produce usable results with through focus stacks, indeed it often makes them useless, it is designed to work with stacks of images that are all in focus and of uniform exposure though possibly noisy and low contrast.
The angle values are degrees times 100, they are used both sides of zero i.e. +/-, so that 100 means check angles between -1 and +1 degree, this check can be time consuming so keep the angle as small as possible.
